Best Buy has been a company that has been around since the 1960s when they only had one store. Today there are thousands of stores in the country and across the world. One thing you can expect from a company like this is the amount of advertisements that are created for the brand and product that it sells. Best Buy has eventually came up with a rewards zone program to give back to their customers for the amount of money they spend in the stores. The reward zone program would give cash certificates to use to shop in the stores. These cash certificates would normally be sent through the mail to consumer's however Best Buy has decided to transfer it via email and online on a website made by Best Buy. This site is full of the Best Buy Brand and enhances a user's experience for simplicity and market the product directly to the consumer.
Certain social media websites such as Facebook has also included advertisements on their website that targets the user's search preferences. So say if you tend to search for a lot of electronics, then it will show you advertisements that relates to electronics or if you search for apartments then it will do the same with apartment advertisements. All of these new advances in marketing are there to expose you to your preferences or yours needs/desires. Needs/Desires that eventually one will need to fulfill in order to stay happy and sane in life so these advertisements are useful in which they target whatever you are looking for. Which has proven very effective. It have also been said that if users of facebook like your brand or becomes a fan of your fan page for your brand, then they are more likely to purchase or click on a ad for your brand through facebook. Thus increasing traffics and sales for the brand. This could only mean more money in the pockets and effective marketing schemes.

Social Media Advances
Consumers to businesses are lifetime partners that they would love to keep and continue to build a relationship. This relationship like most of our different type of relationships today are found on the internet and continued through social media outlets. Facebook and Myspace have kept friends and family up to date with everyone's daily life, which is why businesses have decided to attack social media websites and add new friends everyday and keep their new friends up to date with their products and new sales. These businesses create fan web pages for them to like and add as a fan so that they can market through their product through the millions of users daily. Wendy's created a facebook fan page in order to market their new "Sea-Salt French Fries" which users could receive for free if they like their new fan's page. Though people may see this as ineffective to market a product because you don't exactly close out a sale online. These coupons and exposure to their new product will give consumers a chance to try their new product so that consumer's will keep in mind the new delicious product that Wendy's has to offer, next time they are looking for a quick bite for lunch or dinner. This type of advertisement is more effective than traditional pop-up ads because everyone always close out or block the pop-up ads which renders the ads ineffective. Facebook do offer ads on the sides but consumer's favorite brands will continue to be a continuing relationship with the consumer which they will continue to market their products to them as they become fans of the brand. There are even tips out there to help utilize the Internets' other social media websites to increase business. Social media even though may not be as promising with consumers. They do have a better effect than regular pop-up ads for companies.

New Generation of Currency
Starbucks have came up with an ingenious way of marketing their brand and product and also in a way inventing a new way to pay for things. Smart Phones are getting smarter and smarter. The world knows that we can't live without them and they keep us connected with the world. More companies are hiring developer to create an application that will market their brand and I can tell you that from my own personal experience as a MIS Intern at Perry Ellis. Perry Ellis was developing an Iphone application so that users can view their store's inventory and have a store map that they can view including store hours. With the invention of this form of payment, companies will begin to accept this method and banks will follow suit possibly. Which could eliminate cash all together and reduce counterfeiting money. Banks have began to keep records of all their currency electronically and it has not been hard of to have a problem with miscalculations that went undetected. The only issue I could see with this new technology would be concerning the bar codes could be duplicated unless that issue has already been address and they have a way of encrypting such a bar code within their system. Since people have been stealing people's card number via the contact-less credit card by hacking an RFID-enabled credit card" that is broadcasting from the plastic card wirelessly. However, all these new applications in dealing with money is just another cool factor for consumers to purchase their products and use it. It will try to sell the concept of being very fast and convenient for oneself. Since everyone is moving towards smart phones it do lead to privacy issues for consumers if they keep all of their personal information on such a device and it gets into the wrong hands. Which that seems to happen quick a bit for some of us out there. Though smart phones are leading the way to enhancing our lives, it may not be the best way either.
